Bill Kayser is a software developer with more than 20 years experience designing systems in industries as diverse as petroleum, retail supply chain, investment banking, and insurance. Between programming jobs in 1996 he also worked as a deck hand on the wooden tall ship, “HMS” Rose. In 2000 he founded the J2EE performance management consulting firm StepZero with Carl Kovamees and Robert Dugan.
These days he’s working on New Relic’s RPM application, a tool useful for collection and analysis of performance monitoring data.
The Hard Tack is a collection of observations and tips on doing performance analysis of web applications based on my experience building and using RPM.
